The Blue States are Leaving...

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 14, 2008, 10:14 AM
web stats

...and we're going to take....

Haw, haw haw....<snarf!>....nyuck, nyuck, nyuck! Thanks for passing this one on, Roger! I've seen quite a few variations on this theme before, but this one seems so timely....

-=b=-

Dear Red States...

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon , Washington , Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California .

To sum up briefly: You get Texas , Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama .
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq , and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Cal, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite , thank you. Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

By the way, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.

Peace out,

Blue States

Cochrane Mural

Beth sent me this one a while ago....have you seen it yet?

-=b=-

LOOK CLOSELY BY CLICKING ON ANY PART OF THE MURAL

For those not living in Western Canada, Cochrane is NW of Calgary and east of Banff, in the foothills of the Rockies.

Each tile is 1 foot square, is it's own individual picture and each is by a different artist. All of them together form this huge mural.

You can click on each of the tiles to see them in detail.

Check out the horse's eye.(check out the other murals as well when you're finished viewing this one!)

And finally, a short fairy tale to read before bedtime....or to get you kicked out of bed whenever you tell it to your spouse....

"One day.....a very long, long time ago there lived a woman who did not whine, nag or bitch.

But this was a long time ago.......and it was just that one day.

The End"

(I know this is still left over frommy last journal entry, but I haven't stopped laughing every time I see it yet....

-=b=-)

Stamps, stamps, stampie stamp stamps!

I have finally collected so many stamps that they don't fit into a single journal. I have organized them into a series of journal entries depending on arbitrary categories I devised myself. Here are the links:

Featured Artist

In the interest of trying to keep this entry short (and save my limited online time for catching up on some of the hundreds of deviations in my message center), I'm going to skip the featured artist link this issue and urge you instead to write a new journal entry of your own featuring one of your favorite artists on dA. Spread the love, folks!

During the 2000 and 2004 American elections, states where voters primarily voted for the democratic party were referred to as "blue states" and those states where the majority supported Bush's republican party were referred to as "red states." The colors come from the maps used by all the news networks to designate which states favored which candidates in the elections...and eventually the colors have come to denote a mindset associated with the main differences between the two parties.

This is often a difficult concept to grasp, even among americans, and is especially bizarre to friends who come from countries where there are many more than (or sometimes even less than) our two-party system in the United States.

Neither party is correct. All the states are purple states, since everything is so similar. Time to go Libertarian, or at least back to classic Republicanism. Ron Paul would have been great.

"Art is not just a matter of externals, of appearances and form. Art is an expression of the artist's inner spirit. A brilliant, radiant spirit is what makes for a great artist."

...We have more than *two parts*, but then our Country has this concept of *left and right* which is close enought to the concept of *blue and red*... ...Thank you for the explanation! :D !!
